Alices eyes hardened slightly. "Doesn't mean I can't help with them... Or at least help you through them..."

Joren blinked. "Yeah..." He leaned against the closest tree, looking down. "I don't know...Things are just confusing now. Maybe you can help...maybe you can't."

Alice frowned. "How about you start with figuring out what exactly is wrong with these things?"

Joren shrugged. "You know most of the story. They want information...something I'm going to have to give to them if I ever hope to make them realize that I am no longer part of Jane's band. The problem here, however, is that if Jane happens to catch me again..." He looked back at Alice. "I'll be forced to share everything I know about you, Aaron and her group, and Feren and every vampire that follows him."

Alice was quiet for a few moments, contemplating this. "Well, easy. Just don't get caught by Jane's band again."

"You make that sound so simple," Joren said with a small, humorless smirk. "The next problem is that I'm practically risking that possibility regardless of whatever I do. If I stay here, in a group of those opposing Jane, then I'm practically welcoming attacks and ambushes along with the rest of them. However, if I leave, I could be found. There's no way I could defend myself against a small unit of Jane's vampires alone." He looked back at Alice. "And I'm also putting you and my sister at risk."

Alice's eyes narrowed slightly. "I'm sure we can take care of ourselves," she retorted. "And wouldn't it be better to stay here and help the opposition? You've got a better chance surviving with them, and maybe even getting rid of your problems for good. If you just keep running away, it puts more people in danger."

Irritation crossed Joren's face again...perhaps it was because of the realization that what she said was true. "Regardless...I don't want anyone getting hurt on my account. Especially not you or Ravyre. Speaking of which, I need to talk to her later to sort out another issue." He frowned, then shook his head. "I don't really have many options than to stay. If I leave, Feren will get suspicious that I've run off to Jane again."

Alice blinked, gazing up at him. "I think that's the safest for everyone," she agreed softly.

Joren stared at the ground for a few long moments, then shrugged. "Maybe," he muttered, not looking up.
Ravyre was looking quizically at the spot where Joren and Alice had vanished, then looked back at Aaron and the spirit wolf. With a small frown, she looked back at Demi, Nell, and Eden. "Well," she said quietly. "Wonder what we're supposed to do now..."

Eden shrugged, gaze wandering toward Aaron. "Get to know our new comrad....s. The wolf too." Shegave an encouraging smile t the rest of them, and stood up, heading over to the Guardian and the spirit wolf. Nell glanced to Ravyre and Demi, and then followed after Eden. Demi looked inquiringly to Ravyre.
Alice gave a small pout. "Aw, come on. Could you at least try being optimistic?"

Ravyre shrugged and stood up. "Sure," she agreed softly, following behind Demi.
Joren glanced up. "Okay, sure. Let me try that again," he said, his tone betraying sarcasm. "Absolutely! That's definetely the safest for everyone! Once Rayne or somebody else tracks down this group with an even larger squad, then I'll be sure to thank myself for letting it happen."

Alice's frown deepened. "Would you feel better if you just abandoned us all and Rayne found us anyway?" she asked coldly.

"No, that's not the point," Joren protested. "No. Jane's after both of us, right now, not the group yet. If I left, she'd be more inclined to send Rayne after me because I know a good lot of information. That way, you all would get the chance to position yourselves somewhere safe." He frowned. "The problem is that I'm not sure I want to leave. And I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do."

Alice sighed. "I'm not sure if it's a right or wrong thing, Joren. We're all in danger, because eventually, if Jane gets what she wants, she'll be after anyone who apposes her. Don't you think it would be more beneficial if we all stuck together?"
