A girl sat cross-legged on the beach, gazing into the water. It was murky, from the pelting raindrops, and the surface reflected the churning clouds above. The young woman's index fingers and thumbs were curled into perfect O's, the other fingers splayed out in an arc. Her hands rested upon her knees- a meditative position. Her eyes were blank, glazed over and distant, her mind obviously occupied by more than the world around her. A great spirit wolf sat behind her, it's pale fur tinged with blue, and glowing and shimmering with a light of it's own. The beast was motionless, her crystalline eyes trained on the silent figure before her. On the ground lay a sack, and in it were the remaining eggs that the Guardian had gathered. They were still now, each enveloped in it's own thoughts. All was quiet.

Red eyes glistening in the darkness of the rainstorm, the vampire group continued ever-so-silently toward their destination. It was still completely quiet to the human ear, however, as their footsteps were light and precise. Ravyre glanced at the blurred scenery around her, then fixed her gaze ahead. Feren suddenly slowed as they reached the lake, holding up his hand to signal a halt.

Aaron looked up sharply, eyes snapping into focus. Her expression was wary and guarded, but with a faint twinge of curiosity. Nalah's gaze followed the Guardian's, the wolf's great head shifted ever so slightly to fix her narrowed eyes upon the vampires.

Feren took a step toward the Guardian, his expression completely neutral. "Greetings," he said, his tone friendly. Joren fought back a groan and avoided eye contact with both Aaron or the spirit wolf. Ravyre, meanwhile, was looking at the wolf, her eyes betraying her curiosity.

Aaron's eyes shifted slowly over the others, showing a slight flicker of interest at seeing Alice and Joren again. The small psychic vampire was, of course, looking completely cheerful and at easy. Eden seemed calm and relaxed as well, coming up to stand near Feren. Demi fidgeted, obviously the least comfortable with the situation. Nell, as usual, looked indifferent and content. Aaron blinked, and trained her gaze on the leader of the group once more. A faint smile brushed her lips, and she unfolded her legs and stood in one graceful movement, pacing over to stand before Feren. Nalah came up behind her, towering over them all with a silent air of nobility and sheer power.

"Allow me to introduce myself," the lead vampire continued. "My name is Feren...this is Demi, Eden, Nell, Maven, Leon, and Ravyre." Feren motioned to each of the other six as he said their name. Then, his gaze rested on a seemingly cheerful Alice and an irritated Joren. "And, I have reason to believe that you've met Alice and Joren before."

Aaron nodded slowly as he spoke, giving Alice and Joren another curious glance. "Yes, yes I have..." she murmured softly. Her eyes went back to Feren, and she blinked. "What brings you all to me?"

Joren shifted uncomfortably, and Ravyre finally drew her gaze from the wolf. "According to them," Feren explained, acknowledging Alice and Joren. "You're against a band of vampires forming in the Dragonlands? I come with the offer of a possible alliance. Not all vampires neccessarily support their leader's motives."

Aaron tipped her head to one side, and replied, "Yes, I know." She closed her eyes for a brief moment, biting her lower lip, and murmured even more softly, "I always know..."

Feren's expression remained calm, neutral. Maven cast the Guardian a quizzical look, Leon just shrugged and remained quiet, and Ravyre's attention flicked back to the wolf for a few brief moments. Joren shifted uncomfortably. The lead vampire spoke again. "And your response to this?"

Aaron was quiet for a few more endless seconds, and then straightened, her eyes clearing. "How would each group benefit from this alliance?"

"First of all, wouldn't it be nice, on your part, to know that you have a group of vampires as your allies? Vampires that are evenly matched with that of Jane's, for the most part?" Feren paused. "And, for us, it would be good to have another group with the same motives as our own allies. If you ever found out anything, or if we did, we could exchange that information."

Aaron blinked, and nodded slowly. "I suppose..." Her eyes squinted, and she stared hard at them, but then shrugged. "It's fine with me."

Joren remained quiet, though he felt Feren's stare like dead weight on his shoulders when the lead vampire looked back. Frowning, Feren looked back at Aaron. "Very well," he said.

Immediately the tension seemed to dissipate, and everyone relaxed. Aaron sat again where she had been, and Alice danced forward to plop down next to her. "Hey again," she chirped, smiling widely. Aaron blinked, and smiled back. For a few moments they were quiet, and if one looked closely, they could tell that the vampire and Guardian were actually having a conversation. Alice would think something, Aaron would hear it in her mind, and Alice would see her reply before Aaron actually said it aloud. Eden gave them a curious glance, and then came forward with Nell as well. They sat a few feet away, chatting quietly. Everyone froze as the great wolf stood and padded over to Aaron, her large paws silent on the sand, leaving soft imprints. But Alice simply smiled and reached up to hug Nalah around the thick, furry neck, and Aaron looked on with a sweet smile on her lips. Eden and Nell blinked, watching carefully, but then slowly returned to their conversation.
