English Assignment
You stand silently in a green field, a light breeze passes over the countryside, forcing the long blades of dew covered grass and wildflowers into submission. Ah, yes, the wildflowers. They dot the countryside seemingly at random, yet even the most talented florist could do no better. You spin in a circle, your joyous movement the only thing that moves for quite a distance. A large smile is on your face; green dotted by flowers for as far as the eye can see. Lying on your back, you feel the water seeping into your clothes, but you don’t care. This is paradise, nothing can go wrong here, and you are completely at peace. As the startled cry of a bird reaches your ears, you sit up, wondering what startled the creature. In the distance you see the beginnings of a dense forest, and you can just make out the outline of a deer though the thickening mist. A smile lights your face once more, you are one with nature here. As the sky clouds over you stand, rain is coming and you wish to return home before it starts.
After walking for a few minutes in complete silence, you arrive at the road which leads to your house. You pause for a moment as both feet touch the cobblestones. You’re looking straight ahead, the ocean is there. You can hear the waves hitting the stone outcrops near sea level. It’s not the safest place, especially with a storm coming, but you approach the cliff anyways. Stopping a few feet away, you let the breeze coming off the ocean wash over you. You could stand there, watching the ocean forever, but the first rain drops are starting to fall. Turning back to the road, you quickly make your way back home to a cozy, warm cottage. It’s your house, the outside decorated with flowers and a fence surrounds the property. The building itself is made of stone; the roof is covered with steel blue shingles. You smile as you walk up the stone pathway to your door. This is home, where you belong.
A rainy day in the old country, nothing new there. Sunny days are rare in this part of the world, you don’t mind though, there is still much that you can do. For instance you could continue the painting you started the other day, a painting of your home. Or you could write another chapter in your novel. You’re close to finishing it and if you concentrated on that, and only that for the entire day, you could probably complete it. Not in the mood to write or paint? Why not play the piano for a bit, you are rather good at it and besides, playing piano while it’s raining has a therapeutic quality to it. If you don’t mind the rain you could go for a walk, or walk to town to meet up with friends. If you did decided to go to town you could go see a movie, go shopping or just relax in the local tea shop. No matter what you decided to do, it’s sure to be relaxing.
This place is your paradise on Earth, somewhere you can relax, let go and be perfectly at ease. It’s your sanctuary, a place where you can escape from the troubles of the real world. You don’t have to worry about anything here, everything is relaxed, laid back, anything you have to do is taken care of quickly and efficiently. It’s the environment of the place, the calm, serene environment which comprises this Irish paradise. Without it, the stress of the outside world would be overbearing, you wouldn’t be able to cope with all that was being asked of you. This place means the world to you, how could it not? It is everything you need to relax, unwind and feel completely free.
