Alice's head shot up, her sharp eyes narrowing in on the threesome as they came back through the trees. "Oh my..." Aaron and Zer both turned to look as well, and Aaron let out a small gasp. Azera hurried off to fetch the healer as they came forward.

Ravyre and Joren both looked over. Joren seemed indifferent, while Ravyre's eyes widened slightly. Cayli looked around for the healer, still supporting Nyra's arm over her shoulder.

The elderly woman rushed forward, ushering Nyra to a soft spot on the grass where the injured sorceress could sit. The healer then went about preparing a poultice and some bandages for Nyra, pressing them onto her bruises and cuts. "Move your arms, dear, and let me see your stomach," she murmured gently, prying away Nyra's hands.

Nyra obeyed quietly, her eyes closing tightly at the stinging of the poultices on her wounds. She lowered her arms, looking away from the bruises on her stomach under her worn shirt. Cayli bit her lip, standing beside Jaclyn. "Nyra's her name? I recognize her...she's one of the two you were talking about, right?"

The healer quietly continued her work, hand soft and careful around Nyra's tender body. Jaclyn watched, eyes distant and troubled. She nodded slowly at Cayli's words, saying nothing.

Cayli frowned, shivering, but remained where she was. "She's...not a threat, right?" she murmured, knowing that while the sorceress didn't look like trouble, she was still technically bound to the wrong side. They now had an entire group to look out for, and one mistake could lead to bigger problems.

Jaclyn's frown deepened. "I don't think so... You heard her- she's in trouble with her master. She came for help... I think..."

Cayli nodded, then glanced at the bags Nyra brought with her...there were two on the ground next to the sorceress now. She turned back to Jaclyn, still a bit troubled. "Okay," she murmured quietly. "I just would hate for something to happen, but I trust your judgement."

Jaclyn nodded again, still not looking up. Her head was swarming, the thoughts stinging each time they came around. What were they in for next...?

Nyra gritted her teeth at the pain, but it slowly started to fade a bit as the poultices started to take effect. She relaxed slightly, knowing that she was safe for now. But Varen was still back there... She winced, biting her lip so hard it started to bleed a bit. She had to talk to Jaclyn.
Cayli rested a reassuring hand on Jaclyn's shoulder, then turned back to the other performers, a mix of feelings displayed on her face.

Jaclyn stepped forward, shrugging away from Cayli's touch, and murmured, "I need to talk to her..." She crossed to stand next to the healer, and quietly requested a moment alone with the sorceress. The healer nodded, turning away to join the others.

Nyra looked up at Jaclyn, still shaking slightly as she nodded her head at the two bags. One of them held the belongings Jaclyn had left behind at the sorcerers' lair. "That's yours...I tried to get everything before I left," her voice was weak, but she still met Jaclyn's gaze with her own.

"Oh." Her tone was mildly surprised, but still rather dull compared to usual. "Um... Thanks." She sat down next to Nyra, folding her legs under her. "Nyra... What happened, when you guys left?"

Nyra was quiet for a few moments, staring off a bit distantly. "We left back for the Dragonlands," she murmured finally. "And Varen knew and warned me that there would be trouble when we returned without you...But we'd already agreed to face it and leave you behind. When we left you and Jamison to talk and went on the task, we talked it over, and I told him I knew that your spell mark was defective...I can explain that if you want." She paused, going back to the story. "Well, when we faced Xoran with a report, as we do after any mission...Varen silenced me with a certain spell. He placed placed the spell on me right before we faced Xoran, so nobody noticed that he'd used magic. He told Xoran that it was his plan to leave you behind, and that I had nothing to do with it. I couldn't say or do anything to stop him." Shakily drawing in a breath, she continued. "It was the truth, too. It had been Varen's idea to leave you behind, so I was really innocent in that idea. But there was a little flaw in Varen's plan...Xoran wondered how he knew that the spell mark was defective...and he heard that from me. He couldn't lie, either...Xoran can sense if one of his followers are lying."

Jaclyn's eyes widened in disbelief, and she spluttered wordlessly before she could finally find her voice. "How could he be so stupid? He's going to get himself killed!"
