It was well past nightfall when the group made it to the Willow Lake. The moon, peeking out from behind dark clouds, glinted off the glittering surface of the lake, and a soft breeze stirred the air around them. Cayli fingered the strap of her bag, walking beside her cousing as they traveled around the lake. She kept a close eye out for Aaron and the vampires, but her thoughts were mainly focused on what they were getting themselves into.

The great spirit wolf stepped forward into view from the trees where Aaron's group waited, and the Guardian slipped down off her back. Alice was close behind, along with a few of the other vampires. Jaclyn and Jamison came to a halt behind Azera. Sage stood near Cayli, and his eyes found the newcomers first. She shifted slightly, and nudged the acrobat in the ribs, pointing.

Cayli caught sight of Aaron, the spirit wolf, Alice, Ravyre, and Joren. The others appeared to have stayed behind. "Hey!" she greeted Aaron cheerfully, repositioning the strap on her shoulder. A few others murmured their own greetings, shifting uncomfortably in the presence of vampires.

Aaron nodded in greeting, and gave a friendly smile. Jaclyn and Jamison stepped forward to introduce themselves to the vampires, trying to be brave. Azera went to talk with Aaron, gesturing with her hands as they discussed where to set up camp. Alice pranced forward, grinning, and threw herself at Cayli, locking the acrobat in a vice-gripped hug. "We're going to be great friends, I know it already!" Sage stepped backward, eyes widening slightly.

Cayli seemed at ease near the vampires, but was still a little surprised at Alice's sudden gesture. However, a smile broke out on her face and she gave the vampire a hug in return. When she pulled away, she looked at the vampire. "I'm sure!" she laughed. "You'll have to excuse me for a few minutes, though...I need to go stretch my legs." Ravyre stepped forward next to Alice, and looked at Sage, who appeared to be a little overwhelmed. "Hey," she greeted him, her voice cheerful.
Cayli wandered off toward Jaclyn and Jamison. "I'm going to go take a look around. Do either of you want to tag along?" she offered, setting her bags down beside a caravan and stretching out her arms.

Alice hopped backward, still smiling, and nodded in agreement. She glanced at Sage, and raised her hand in a small wave. Sage blinked, recovering himself, and mumbled a greeting in return to the two vampires.
Jaclyn, having just removed her pack from her shoulders and plopped it on the ground, straightened up. "I'll come," she replied, smiling slightly.

Cayli grinned and wandered off toward the trees. She wandered for a bit, glancing back every once in a while to make sure Jaclyn was still behind her. She also took careful note of their surroundings to make sure they didn't get lost. The acrobat wove her way through the trees, humming under her breath. However, the peaceful night was suddenly interuppted by a bright blue flash up ahead. Cayli's eyes narrowed. "Hm? What was that?"

Jaclyn's eyes widened slightly, and hesitated in mid-step. "I... Don't know," she murmured slowly, frowning at the trees before them.

Cayli hesitated, then quickened her pace, heading in the direction the light had appeared. She slowed when she came across a small clearing, and finally froze when she heard the sound of twigs snapping. Someone was coming. She was about to get into a fighting stance when a small, cloaked figure stumbled out of the trees and into the clearing. She found it unneccessary as the figure collapsed to its knees, a feminine-sounding groan escaping quietly from beneath the cloak. The hood slowly slid down to the girl's shoulders. Nyra glanced up, her hair half covering her face.

Jaclyn hurried after Cayli, freezing up about the same time. Her eyes widened further as she saw who it was, and in an instant, she was by Nyra's side. "Nyra, are you okay?" she gasped, breathless with shock.

Nyra shook her head. "No," she groaned, shaking. "I made it to the right place, though...obviously." She winced, her hair shifting to reveal the previously covered side of her face. A nasty cut was scored above her right eye, and the sorceress was clutching her stomach, leaning over. "Jaclyn...Varen and I...He's in trouble." She bit her lip, still trembling. "We're both in a lot of trouble."

"What? Trouble from who?" Jaclyn's eyes narrowed- she had a feeling she already knew. She crouched down, and placed a gentle hand on Nyra's shoulder, wincing at the feeling of wounds she sensed seeping through the sorceress's body.

Nyra shook her head, blinking back tears. "Xoran. When you didn't come back...he knew we'd convinced you to stay. A-and I knew about your spell mark, and I never told him. He's f-furious with us both. I had to come and find you...I can resist his c-control for now...but that's a long story..." Cayli knelt down at Nyra's other side. "Jacyln, we have to get her to the healer," she murmured.

Jaclyn grimaced at the sorceress's first words, feeling that this was partly her fault. Then she frowned in confusion. "You... what?" She blinked, shaking her head. "Nevermind, Cayli's right. We need to get you fixed up. C'mon." She stood, hoisting Nyra up with her, and slinging one of the girl's arms around her shoulder.

Nyra winced again, and Cayli supported the sorceress on the other side. Slowly, they made their way back off into the trees.
