"Eh," He grumbled, nuzzling into her neck--they were finished, after all--"I guess. If you really want to."

She rolled her eyes, pulling way from him. "C'mon you big lump," she called, waving a hand for him to follow as she picked her way over the pile of bodies around them. She lead the way down the silent pathway, rounding a corner... and there was a pale, blond figure crouched on the floor. Rosetta raised her head with great difficulty, glaring mutinously at the necromancer. Masquerade reached for the bells, but was not fast enough. The vampire lunged at her, fingers stretched toward the blue girl's throat.

Tobias snapped back into a full awake state, flipping the knife in his hand to point the blade forwards, rushing in front of the necromancer. Damn. He should have known better than to trust Rosetta...

Rosetta growled, clawing at his face. There was a sickening squelch, and blood streamed across her white skin. But Masquerade had ahold of her bells now, and Rosetta fell.

Tobias screamed, hands releasing the dagger--embedded into Rosetta's stomach--and flew to his face. Oh god, oh god, oh god, oh god. He fell to his knees, cradling the right side of his face in his hands. "Sh-she..." He gasped for air, panicking. "My eye...!" He shouted, biting down on his lip, knowing he was crying, whether he wanted to or not. GOD it hurt so much...

Masquerade froze, shocked by the sight of the... One couldn't even begin to know how to describe it. The image was gruesome enough, but the poor man's screams were worse. She fell to her knees, reaching forward with both hands but unable to help. "Oh my-... ohh." She grimaced, fighting back the urge to vomit. "Here... uhm... stop the bleeding." She stripped a piece of fabric from her cloak and fumbled with it, trying to form a makeshift eyepatch.

He just grabbed the cloth from her, gingerly pressing it over his shredded eye socket. Whimpering quietly, he tried to choke back sobs of pain. "God, I.... I'm s-sorry Masquerade..." He muttered, slowly calming down. "I... agh, ch-check Rosetta's body. M-maybe she still has some of her medicine... on her," He motioned to the lifeless body.

"Why are you sorry? S'my fault," she mumbled, following his instructions. She found a bottle of some sort of potion, but she wasn't much of a healer, and could only just barely decipher that it was a painkiller of sorts.

"G-gimme," Tobias took the bottle from her, haphazardly downing half the bottle. "That..." He mumbled, falling into a tired state again. "Is some strong stuff....." He fumbled with his bandanna, turning it into an eyepatch before falling against Masquerade.

"Can you walk?" she asked quietly, trying to help him stand.

"Maybe," He murmured huskily, using her for support as he got to his feet. "How bad do I look?" He murmured, having a little difficulty speaking--or doing anything for that matter. His entire body was numb. As for his appearance, Tobias was a soaked-to-the-bone, tattered, bloody mess. His hair stuck to his face and neck with a mixture of water and blood. His face was torn up, and the bandanna over his right eye did no good at hiding the plain fact--his eye would be useless now, ripped to a jelly-like mess in the socket. On top of all this, he was still bleeding.

She gritted her teeth. "Not so great, but if you can make it... We need to get out of here."Masquerade did her best to support him as they climbed down to the first level. "Wait here," she murmured, letting him rest by the main doors.
In the grand hall, only a few were left standing. The sleeping humans would wake eventually on their own, and the southerners who had not been as strongly affected she released. She checked to see that all the sorcerers were still bound, and that the vampires were taken care of. It was rumored that the sorcerer's leader had been defeated earlier on, stripped of his powers. She would let the survivors deal with their captives.
But what of the vampires' leader? Masquerade made her way deeper into the fortress, and found the two sovereigns collapsed. The vampire was dead, and the Guardian... she was not conscious, but Masquerade thought she should be able to recover.
Returning to the entrance of the great stone building, Masquerade decided that that was enough work for one day. She would leave while she still could. Those left standing could do what they wished. She had done something for the good of others, now she would heal herself and... Tobias? What of him? She stood at the tall wooden doors, pain obvious in her face as she stared at her injured companion. “I guess you- this was more than I hired you for... You can um...”

Tobias glanced up at her from his spot on the floor. "I can what? Leave, and miss out on all the adventure?" A weak smirk. "You're not getting rid of me that easily," He pulled himself back to his feet, taking her by the shoulders and pulling her into a quick kiss.

Her eyes went wide, but she made no protest, letting herself be dragged closer to him for a few seconds. She couldn't help but smile a little when she pulled away. "Alright fine, as long as you can keep up," she conceded. Truthfully, she wasn't sure what she would have done if he had let her go without him.

"I c'n do it," He laughed huskily, still holding her shoulders (for support now). "... Where are we going from here, though?" He released her, opting to lean against the wall instead. Bringing his wet sleeve up, he tried to wipe away some blood from his face. "Messes as we are. What is your plan, oh great Necromancer?" He glanced at her from behind his sleeve, smirking just slightly.
