"Oh. Well, will you keep going by?" She pursed her lips, tilting her chin upwards a little and watching her though narrowed eyes, still clinging to Aleron's neck. Aleron rolled his eyes a little. "Yes, Licia, she was just about to leave. Why not go on back to the village, okay? I still need to get some practice done." "... will you be back soon?" "Before nightfall." "Promise?" She whimpered a little. "Yes." ".... Alright," She nodded slightly and released him, flitting away a little, before looking back. "She is leaving now, right?" She spoke of Mirah as if she couldn't hear her. "Yes, Licia!" He called, before adding under his breath without glancing at the elf, "Stand up, start walking, come back in a minute, alright?"

The elf gave the slightest of nods, appearing completely indifferent as she obeyed. She headed back off into the trees in the direction opposite of the camp, and waited until a sufficient amount of time had passed. A minute or so later, she reappeared in the clearing, having checked beforehand to make sure that the fairy was gone.

Aleron was still there, and had his sword out again, only it was resting beside him in the grass as he stretched. Down to his toes, nose to knee, sit back up, stretch down to the other foot, repeat. When he was satisfied with his leg stretches, he pulled his arm across his chest, stretching that as he looked up, smiling slightly in greeting. "Well, Licia's... an interesting character, at least. Never a dull moment," He chuckled weakly, in defense of his friend.

Mirah frowned, crossing her arms. "Sure, if you say so." And might I mention 'rude'? She kept this thought to herself.

"Really, she is," He finished stretching his arms and stood shaking out his limbs a little before grabbing the thin sword from the ground.

Mirah shrugged. "You know her better than I do. I guess I'll take your word for it." She glanced at the sword. "Do you really want some time alone or would you mind if I stuck around?"

He shook his head. "Naah, I'm fine with it. I just said that because... ah, well, while I love the girl, she's a bit of a handful.... a lot of a handful," He corrected himself, smiling.... sheepishly? "But really, the choice is entirely up to you, all I'll be doing is practicing, really," He turned most of his back to her, breathing in deeply, moving slowly with the sword at first, movements smooth and fluid. Gradually, he sped up some, his actions sudden and swift, yet he still managed to keep the grace from before.

Mirah grinned and turned to climb up the nearest tree, sitting on one of the lowest branches as she watched. As her eyes fixed themselves on his movements, her mind began to wander in various directions. She tried to push the thought of Licia out of her mind. If the fairy wanted to act that way, then so be it. Mirah then found her thoughts and attention being focused on Aleron...the grace of his actions, how precise he was about it...A soft, dreamy, inaudible sigh escaped from her. Suddenly, her eyes widened when she realized what she was doing. What the--? She sat up a little straighter, blinking as she tried to clear her mind. That was out of the question.

Aleron was hardly focusing on what he should be, either, but sword fighting had become second nature to him by then. Slice, stab, turn, guard, stab again, yawn. So soon enough they would be marching off to fight an army... he closed his eyes, moving blindly for a moment, listening to the blood pound in his ears. True, he was nervous, but he already said he would help. No backing out. Mirah was counting on him, anyways. Was she? Hm. And what was he to do about Licia? She had become more aggressive than usual since they began their stay there, and he was worried she would leave a bad impression. He'd talk to her, but there was always that fear of her going off and breaking something. Or someone. Best to do that on a later date. He paused, leaning against the trunk of the tree Mirah sat in, catching his breath.

Mirah leaned over, glancing down at him from atop the branch. She reached for her belt, grabbing the small canteen of water that hung there. "Here," she offered, removing it from its strap. Despite her better judgement, she still found herself looking at him a bit longer than she probably needed to. She silently scolded herself as she tossed the canteen down to him. "That might help."

He held out his hands, letting it fall into his grasp. He looked up, shaking his bangs best as he could from his eyes before smiling- a genuine one this time. "Thank you," He turned his attention back to the canteen, removing the cap and taking a swig.

Mirah nodded. "Sure thing," she replied, biting her lip as she grinned again. While she waited for him to finish, she looked out at the other trees around them, as though curiously interested in the detail of each. In reality, she was just trying to re-collect herself...trying to bring herself into focus again. "So," she said, her gaze still distant. "How long have you been working with a sword?"

"Since I was very young. It's a Tharcia family tradition to decide the child's weapon at birth. Barnabas was given the family's classic weapon, the falchion, since he's the oldest. Mihael was awarded the halberd; Umi got the stiletto; Kaleb, the voulge; Aaron got the mace; and Helen got the longbow. She's quite a good shot, as well," He chuckled, recalling the time the youngest shot through his window, nearly skewering Licia to the wall.

Mirah nodded. "Ah. We don't really have a tradition quite like that, but at a certain age children of our tribe can decide to train in the art of a certain weapon. When they get older, they can branch out to another weapon. The magic-users among us, though, usually only train with one weapon and work on mastering sorcery. She paused for a second before continuing. "My magic talents are rather limited, so I rarely use anything like that. Instead, I train with battle staves or fans with hand-to-hand combat."

"Fans, really?" He looked back up. "I've never heard of those being used in combat. Care to demonstrate, maybe?" The Mona Lisa smile was back, and he tossed the canteen back up to her.
