Jane gazed down over the burnt-out wastelands, perched on the slightest edge, a ledge at the top of her volcano. Her scarlet eyes scoured the ground below, watching carefully, waiting for something. Her mouth twisted into a malicious grin as she glanced toward the churning sky- soon, the storm would break, and the war would begin.

It was quiet for the most part...only the slightest of breezes stirred the air. A bright, brilliant blue flash interuppted those conditions, and when the light died down, hundreds of black-cloaked figures were present on the ground below. They were all quiet, but their eyes were visible through the shadows of their hoods. Some of the pairs of eyes were of natural colors...some were scarlet red. Xoran appeared at the front of the lines. Ricoda stood next to him, gazing at the other followers with hard eyes.

The wicked smile widened to a toothy grin. With a graceful spring, Jane leapt into the air, free-falling down from the top of the volcano. She landed with a soft thud, right in front of Xoran, and straightened, the grin lingering on her pale face. "About time," she trilled in her high, piercing voice. At some unseen signal, there was movement behind her, and out from the cavern poured a stream of vampires. They flowed in to join with Xoran's troupes, doubling the number of bodies gathered there. Jane motioned for Xoran to follow, and strode over to a large boulder. She leapt agilely to the flat surface on top, turned to face the army.

Xoran said nothing, only gave a slight nod. He followed her to the surface, pulling down the hood of his cloak and letting his chilly blue eyes wander over the army. Excellent.
Jyrra shivered, even though it wasn't neccessarily cold. Even though she was standing in the middle of the large group, she could still clearly see Jane and Xoran. Varen stood next to her, his eyes narrowed as he tried to think of a way for them to get out of this. There isn't a way to avoid it.

Jane's eyes burned into the crowd below, and after a moment, she called out over the troupes. "Tonight, we march to the south, and launch our attack on the great cities of Isthilaen. The resistances will crumble under our sheer numbers, and by dusk tomorrow, the land will be ours. Brothers, sisters, our victory is only a day away!" She raised a pearly white fist, teeth bared in a half grimace, half grin. Below her, the army roared their approval.

Xoran, from atop the platform, remained silent, his expression indifferent as he watched the vast numbers roar in triumph. Ricoda, on the land below the platform, watched the others, her arms crossed and her mouth curving into a smile. Jyrra and Varen just grimaced, but nobody seemed to notice or care that they didn't share in their excitement.

After a few moments, Jane dropped her arm, and the shouting quieted. "We depart in half an hour's time. Prepare yourselves as best you can- then, we march." She stepped forward, dropping lightly down off the boulder.

Xoran remained perched atop f it for a few moments longer, until the lines had broken and groups were scattering. He was waiting... There was a quick flash of green light, and three more of his cloaked followers appeared. In the middle of them was Nyra. "You..." Xoran hissed, grabbing her arm. He bent down so that his face was inches from her own. "You, little mouse, are going to do the honors of sharing with Jane and I everything you know."

Jane turned, and in half-a-heartbeat, she stood beside Xoran, sneering at Nyra. "Ah, is this your little escapee?" she drawled.

Nyra's eyes widened slightly, her heart thudding in her chest and her breathing uneven. "Yes," Xoran replied, a sinister edge in his voice. "We've found out she's been hanging around with the other side...for about a month now."

"Mm." Jane's gaze drifted lazily up and down Nyra's form. "Skimpy thing, isn't she?"

Nyra normally would have said something back, but her knowledge of both Xoran's and Jane's capabilities kept her from reacting. Xoran's grip tightened, and the sorceress winced. "And she's going to regret running. But first, I want to find out every last detail of what she knows."

Jane's was expectant now, and slightly eager. "Well? Do you need more persuading?" she asked in a shrill, wicked voice.

Nyra grimaced, and was quiet for a few moments. When she lifted her head, her eyes glinted with an unreadable expression. "I'm not telling you anything."

The vampire's gaze hardened. "Oh. You want to play that way, then," she replied in a slightly disdainful, airy tone. "Fine." Her eyes narrowed as she concentrated. "You're a sweet looking girl," she cooed, shaking her head slightly. "I'd hate to see you get hurt. I'll give you one last chance."
