Plot: This roleplay takes place in a school for the fantastical creatures of myth, with students of many varieties. Every beast and mythical being you could think of, from elves to vampires to witches to fairies, and everything in between. Life goes on normally, the students coming to the school as early as humans would start middle school, and graduating somewhere in the range of a college-age human student. But then, a group of new students arrive, their origins unknown. They are a mystery, and obviously there's something different about them. Around the same time, strange things start happening. Unexplained incidents that leave the students frightened and distrustful. There are rumors flying, and even talk of having to shut down the school if things can't be resolved soon. Then some of the students get more involved than they should. On one side, a handful of students start to get more acquainted to the newcomers, and try to figure out who they really are, and what they're doing at the school. And then, some students are coming to recognize the tie between the new students and the strange happenings about the school, though their theories may have been mislead...
Setting: The school is called Reverie, and it lies on the outskirts of a modern city by the name of Tyson. Tyson is a mix of medieval and modern, with some older parts, and then some newer areas mixed in. The school is much the same. The building was originally an old, crumbling stone castle, but it has been renovated and rebuilt, and had some more modern parts added on, as well as some dormitory buildings built around the grounds. Hardly anyone ventures near the school, which is fortunate for it's mythical inhabitants. There are rumors of the area being haunted and such things, and so most steer clear. Sometimes the older students will venture out into the city, if they can blend in well enough, and a few even live in the more modern areas of Tyson. Behind the school grounds, opposite the city, is a vast wilderness, with mountains dappled with sprawling woods. Some of the students live here- those less adapted to living in buildings.

It was nearing dusk, and the night was slowly seeping across the sky, smothering the last rays of sunlight as the glowing orb disappeared behind the mountain range. The stone towers were silhouetted against the sky, a large dark mass rising up from the surrounding trees. A fading shadow of the building was mirrored on the grounds before it, stretching across the grassy front lawns. A small group of people who looked to be somewhere in their late teens stood just outside a large wrought iron gate set into a tall stone wall, peering into the shadowy courtyard. As they watched, a few torches were lit around the entrance to the main building- stone steps, bordered on either side with think carved railings, led up to a tall, arced, wooden doorway. Yes, there were others lurking in the courtyard, unaware of their audience, but slowly the lingering students trailed back into the castle, and the torches were left to flicker quietly to themselves.
The group of waiting people were varied in species, though all some sort of mythical creature commonly found in a human child's story book. Among them were a pair of obviously related Drows, dark elves with pale blue skin and slender, agile forms. The female had brilliant violet purple eyes, and spiky silver ponytails sticking out from either side of her head. She was dainty and light-footed, and seemed to dance everywhere she went. Her face was sharply features and angular, stretched into a small, expectant smile as she waited. The male was taller, and broader in the shoulders, and also lithe and graceful, but still nowhere near as perfectly weightless as his sister. His eyes were a darker shade, more midnight purple, almost blue. His hair was darker grey, with streaks of silver highlighting the shaggy layers. He shifted impatiently, his jaw clenched tight as he stared at the door. Next to them stood a small, but well-muscled figure, who looked mainly human, aside from her oddly colored eyes. Her hair was cropped short, framing her face in a delicate arc, and growing longer in the front, on either side of her cheeks. It was pale silvery-blonde, almost white. Her face was heart-shaped, with hight cheekbones and dimples; a face that would have been rather pretty, had there not been a sour scowl permanently twisted across her lips. Her eyes were narrowed, heavily lashed and nicely accented, one golden and one sky blue. They were all silent, waiting for some signal, for someone to make the first move.

The darkening sky above caught the attention of a smaller figure, and she watched as the last traces of the sun disappeared behind the mountain ranges in the distance, her silvery gray eyes glinting. Though in reality she was a witch, the teenager could have easily passed for a human, without anything except for magic to reveal that she wasn't. Black hair framed her face, falling to a point only an inch or so above her shoulders, revealing a face that almost seemed vulnerable and shy at a first glance...but a closer look would bring anyone to notice the almost dark, unreadable expression that was drawn across her eyes. She wore simple clothing over her slim and small figure--her outfit consisted of merely jeans, a gray shirt, and a black jacket. The sleeves were rather long for her, and had been rolled up a couple times to allow use of her hands, which held the handle of a suitcase. Her free hand fingered the strap of her shoulder bag as she waited...rather impatiently. Yet another figure stood beside the witch--tall compared to her. He probably could have passed for a regular teenager as well if it hadn't been for his scarlet-colored eyes and paler skin. The vampire had a lighter expression evident on his face, looking at the massive building with almost curious eyes. The hood of his white sweatshirt was drawn over his head, hiding wavy--and quite messy--brown hair, and he wore baggy jeans to go with it. He carried a backpack over his shoulders, accompanied by a larger duffle bag carried by one of his hands. While they waited, the witch drew her gaze from the sky to glance at the others, then looked at the school. She waited quietly, standing amongst the others, shivering slightly as a cool breeze swept across the grounds.

Finally, movement came from within the silent group, as the male Drow stepped forward, glancing back at his companions. He motioned for them to follow, and carefully eased open the gates to the courtyard. He let them all through, and closed the gated again, loping gracefully to the front of the mob, and heading up the wide steps. He reached out to grasp the handle, but before he could push the door open, a servant on the other side have a tug, and his hand met thin air as the door cracked open. The servant peered out, a short, balding man with brown skin and wide round eyes. He asked quietly, "The new students?" The elf nodded, and the servant, who seemed to be a hobbit of sorts, pulled the door wider.
The elf led the way into the entrance hall, his sister prancing in behind him and gazing about with a wondrous expression. The room was grand, with a tall ceiling that ended half-way across the room and formed a balcony across the edge, met by the wide staircase winding up to the floor above. Arced doorways led off to other rooms on either side, and the staircase dominated the back wall. The servant quickly closed the door behind them, and shuffled off to a door set just to the side of the staircase, waving for the newcomers to follow him. They passed a few students who were hurrying through the entrance hall, and earned themselves a few curious glances and a handful of excited whispering. The elves did their best to ignore the other students, following faithfully after the hobbit. The werecat's scowl deepened, but she said nothing, only ambled silently after the others.
The servant led them down a long, narrow hall, and stopped outside a wooden door set into the right wall. He rapped three times with his knuckles on the wood, and a call answered from within. He pushed the door open, and admitted the new students into the cozy little office that lay behind it. A tall, slender woman sat behind a semi-circle shaped wooden desk, her pale skin giving off strange glimmers in response to the firelight flickering in the hearth. Her eyes were a pale, rosy red color. She was an elderly vampire, and quite obviously the headmistress of the school. "Ah, the new students, I presume?" Her voice was high and sharp. The male elf nodded, stepping up to stand before her. His sister followed, hovering one step behind him. "Well, then, you'll have some paperwork to do, just for the school records. Here, take these, fill out your names and species and ages and all that, and then I'll sort out your class schedules." She handed him a packet of papers and a handful of pens, which he distributed among his companions. The female elf accepted hers with a bright smile, and got to work immediately, filling out the forms in a beautiful, spidery curlycue script. The werecat sneered ungrateful, grumbling to herself as she snatched the papers from his hand and started scribbling reluctantly across the page.

The witch and vampire followed after their companions silently--the vampire falling in a step or two behind the male Drow and the female lingering near the back. As they shuffled into the entrance hall, the male took in the sight with raised eyebrows. His interest was still clear on his expression, and he continued forward with the others with a confident stride. The witch, however, appeared just as excited as she had been outside...which really amounted to nothing. Her appearance remained indifferent as they were led to the side of the staircase, still fingering the strap of her bag. She didn't fail to notice the curious stares of passing students, but she ignored them and tried to focus only on what was ahead of her. When they were led into the office, the vampire stood beside the female Drow near the front, while the witch remained where she was--near the back. When she was offered a form and a pen, she accepted it with nothing more than a shrug, walking over to the nearest wall to use it as a solid surface to write. Her script was neat, small, and tight. The male, who had claimed a corner of the desk to work on his, had rather messy handwriting, but it was still clear enough to make out what was written. When the witch had finished, she placed hers back on the desk, and waited quietly for the others to complete their forms.

The rest of the group returned their forms, and the headmistress glanced over them before dropping them into a drawer, and digging out a new set of papers. She handed a packet to each of them. "These are your student handbooks, class schedules, dorm numbers, campus maps, and a list of some standard school guidelines. If you have any questions or concerns, you may come address me, or any of the teachers or staff. My name is Lysistrata Azariel, and you will address me as Headmistress Azariel." Her sharp gaze swept over them. "Any questions?" No one spoke, and she nodded. "You are dismissed." The male elf turned, and made his way to the door, opening it and standing to the side to allow the others to pass. He gave a short bow to the headmistress, and retreated to the hallway.

The witch accepted her papers, and found the stack to be rather big. Oh, great. With a slight frown, she turned and headed for the door, which was being held open by the male Drow. She followed the others out and into the hallway, hardly bothering to give the papers a second glance as she shoved them into her shoulder bag. The only thing she'd actually looked at was her dorm number, which had been printed in bold letters on a card. It wasn't hard to miss. The vampire gave the headmistress a last nod before he followed the others. Unlike the witch, he was flicking through the papers with slight interest, only half paying attention where he was going.

There was a crashing noise from the front entrance, some frantic 'sorry!'s, and the swift patter of two pairs of footsteps rushing in. The noise stopped, the new arrivals seemingly calming themselves, before the footsteps began again, this time three pairs. At the end of the hallway were three boys, the shortest and slightest one leading the way to the headmistresses' office. Other new students, apparently, judging by the mixed expressions on their faces.
The boy at the front poked his head in. "'Ey, is it awwrigh' if we come in? Our train was late, so sorry ma'am," He flashed a sharp smile, dimples appearing on his thin face, his rosy, pointed button nose crinkling a little as he did so, lifting his cap off his head. There was an odd air about him- not odd, really, but a welcoming, cold feeling. He dropped the old gray cap back onto his head, covering the top of his snow white hair, but made his pointed ears (also rather rosy at the tips) a bit more apparent. As far as dress went, he looked about as poor as his accent was- faded jeans a size too big, plain white button-down shirt, chuck all-star's falling apart at the heels and toes, and a tattered red scarf.
The boy behind him was considerably taller, not to mention quieter, with a slightly hooked nose, green eyes, and feathery blonde hair, which was fluffier and shorter at the top, falling into thin strands at his shoulders. He held his large, almost paw-like, hands behind him, looking around a moment, before peeking into the office as well. His large golden wings fluttered a moment behind him, wrinkling the fabric of his grey sweater as they shifted. His hands shifted from behind him to the small silver chain around his neck, and he played with that in a nervous manner, his lion's tail flicking and his clawed, feathered feet clicking anxiously on the smooth floor.
The third boy with them was of medium height, a big brown leather hat sitting loosely on his head. Apart from the other two, who at least looked mostly human (apart from the ears, wings, et cetera), he appeared totally alien, with dark grey hair and brown-grey skin. His eyes were a bright yellow, though they were shadowed by what appeared to be some sort of bird's skull worn as a mask over the upper half of his face. A pair of white fangs stuck over his top lip, giving him almost a bulldog-like appearance- his scowl and body language made him seem just as grumpy as one, as well.
OoC:Haw haw awful intro. Awful. Anyways, at least we can get this rolling. C: Sorry for the wait. Dx AND HOW COME POSTS ALWAYS LOOK BIGGER WHEN YOU'RE TYPING THEM THAN ON THE BOARD. BAAAAAAW. ;^;

The Headmistress Azariel looked up from her desk, and nodded. "Ah. Yes. Here, fill out these forms, and here are your schedules and maps and dorm numbers and such." She handed them each bundles of paper similar to those she had given the previous group of students. "I think some of your group was just here- you might be able to catch up to them and accompany them to your new dorms- all the new students are usually fairly close to eachother." The vampire headmistress did not look up from the fine print that dart across the page after her quill as she spoke, but she did glance up once or twice, peering up at them with her milky rose-colored eyes.

"Yes'm," The shortest quirked, snagging the sheets for the gryphon boy as well. The one with the mask had already retreated to lord-only-knows-where he had to go. "So this is a noice school, innit?" He grinned as he handed the papers to the other, as they hurried after the students that had been on time. He shrugged as they reached the group. The little one turned the map in his hands, staring at it quizzically. "Oi, anyone 'ere know 'how to rea' a map better'n me?" He called, waving the paper around.

The witch stopped, turning to see the two new arrivals approaching them. She fixed them with a slightly quizzical look, crossing her arms. Late. Before she could say anything, the vampire walked up to stand next to her. "Hey, where have you guys been?" he asked, though the question wasn't unfriendly.

The smaller kid spoke up again. "Ou' train was late, bu' the noice goblin kid showed us the fastest way 'ere. Wasn't that noice 'a' 'im?" He grinned. The one with wings nodded a little to the other in a 'yeah, what he said,' fashion.

The female's head tilted to the side slightly. "Oh." The vampire shrugged and flicked through the stack of papers he still held until he apparently found what he was looking for. He pulled out his own map, setting it on top of the other papers and studying it for a few moments. "Well, now that we're all here, should we go found out where we're staying?"

He nodded in agreement, checking his own map. The other boy did so as well, pointing it out. "Right there," His voice was deep and melodious, and had the slightest hint of a British accent, though not the harsh Cockney accent the spritely boy had.

The male drow had his map out as well, and his sister hovered near his elbow, standing on tiptoe to peer curiously at the piece of parchment. He frowned at it, and then glanced up at the surrounding group. "Looks like we're in the newest buildings. In the northern section, come on." He looked down at his map once more, and then started forward, striding quickly down the hall without looking back to make sure they followed.
