Nyra stared at her, her face frozen for a few short moments. Then she cursed. "No. He just freed himself, and now he's going back?" She knew him too well--his guilt was probably what triggered the decision. But taking it upon himself to find Jyrra was something he could not accomplish alone. "What is he thinking?"
Cayli and Mirah, meanwhile, fought amongst the other in the Plains. Cayli stayed within the numbers of the performers, facing dangerous opponents through group work. Mirah, however, had been seperated from the other elves in the midst of the chaos. She used practiced speed and skill to defend herself against oncoming attacks, and searched frantically for the others.
Joren and Ravyre swerved in between the trees far from the battle, their speed carrying them toward their own destination, Tymor. "We're not far now," Ravyre muttered, though audible enough for the other vampires to hear.

Jaclyn shook her head helplessly. "I don't know... I should have tried harder to stop him, I'm sorry." She bit her lower lip, the worried look becoming more prominent on her face.

Nyra glanced over at the mage, her own expression unreadable. "It's not your fault...how would you have stopped him, anyway? He's not thinking properly...he probably feels too guilty..." Her voice faltered for a few brief moments, her fingers gripping the sheets beneath her. "He needs to accept that it wasn't his fault...but I didn't help anything. I blamed him."

Jaclyn frowned. "Now, wait, you can't blame yourself either. It wasn't anyone's fault." A pause. "Well, no, that's not true either. It's all just because of this... madness. But we knew some people were going to be lost." She stared down at her hands, curling them into shaky fists. The spherical shapes blurred as she fought back oncoming tears. The mage said no more, thinking her voice might betray her emotions now.

Nyra bit her lip, studying the ground for several minutes before looking back up at Jaclyn. Through her own clouded vision, she could still trace Jaclyn's expression with her eyes. "I'm still sorry. I don't think there's a way for me not to be." Her voice wavered slightly on the last few words.
The fox-creature's gaze flicked between the two figures before her, then reached up to nuzzle Jaclyn's face with her nose, whimpering quietly.

Jaclyn nodded to the thin blanket draped over her form, smiling faintly at the small fox's gentle movements. "I'm sorry, too," she whispered. Her eyes raised to seek out Nyra's gaze, and she reached out to grasp the sorceress's fingers with her own.
The battle still raged, out on the plains. The armies fought tirelessly, each sharing moments of glory and defeat. It seemed neither side could keep the upper hand for long, but slowly the mass of bodies was shifting northward- the sorcerers and vampires were being driven back the way they had come. On the fringe of the confusing clash, a gangly form stood silently, watching with narrowed eyes. Every time the fighting came to close to her, she would dart a hundred or so yards back. She was only observing, avoiding the main battles as much as she could. She would only step in when absolutely necessary.

Nyra extended her own hand, grabbing hold of Jaclyn's and giving a offering a small squeeze. "The most we can do now is hope that everything else...goes according to plan."
Cayli, meanwhile, fought with the others out in the open plains. She found her unit slowly being seperated, each figure being forced in a different direction. One of the other acrobats remained by her side, and together they forced a sorcerer to retrace his steps. "Cayli," the other suddenly said, out of breath. "Follow the alternate plan we discussed earlier and head to Meriad. Bring back help. Go!" With the slightest of nods, Cayli began to weave her way through the fighting figures, finding it a constant essential to dodge attacks and jump over fallen forms. She slipped away from the chaos, realizing that the enemies were to busy to notice her escape. After taking a last glance back, she turned her attention forward and focused soley on making it to Meriad.

Something in the corner of her eye caught Selia's attention, and she shifted her focus to a lone figure sprinting away from the throng. Judging by the direction she was headed, the solitary acrobat was probably running off for reinforcements. That wouldn't do. Without a moment's hesitation, the vampire bolted after Cayli, catching up within seconds. Selia skidded to a stop in front of the runaway, blocking her path and thus closing off all hopes of getting help. "Hello, there, and where do you think you're going?" she asked cheerfully, as easily as if she were scolding an escapee puppy.

Cayli skidded to a halt, her breath catching in her throat. A vampire. "Dammit," she hissed under her breath, taking a couple steps back, glancing behind her and realizing that nobody would hear her if she called. She also couldn't run--no human had a hope in hell to outrun a vampire. Impossible.

Lia pranced forward, smiling in a light-hearted, goofy fashion. "What's wrong? Are you lost? Get separated from your little pack of friends?" She gave a mock pout. "That's too bad." Another step closer, and she leaned out, sniffing the air before Cayli appreciatively. "Ohh, maybe I can help!"

Cayli, just barely managing to get her breathing back under control, instinctivly stumbled backward a couple more steps. She swallowed hard as she realized her potential fate, and couldn't avoid the train of thought that told her there was nothing she could do.

Selia's eyes stretched wider, a look of shock etching it's way across her features. "Oh, I'm sorry!" she trilled. "Please, don't be afraid..." Her mouth softened into a delicate pout, almost as if she were ashamed. The expression was quickly followed by a small smile. She took a step forward and reached out a hand. Her palms faced up, her fingers spread out eagerly. "Really, I only want to help."

Panting, Aleron finally fell back, forcing himself to jog along the back lines, on the lookout for Mirah. 'Where is she where is she where is she.' Licia rested on his shoulder, gaze averted. She knew who he was looking for.

Mirah was still seperated from the others, and glanced around while trying to back out of the chaotic core of the battle--trying to pinpoint the other elves while dodging random attacks at the same time. It wasn't working so well, as she found soon a hand on her shoulder, grip tightening dangerously. Before she could react, a sharp pain shot into the point of contact, like an electric current. Inhaling sharply at the sudden current, she felt her legs give out from under her, feeling the jolt spread from her shoulder throughout the rest of her body.
Cayli didn't think this time. Against all logic, she followed the first impulse that jumped into her mind. In this case, it was running.

The vampire's movements were a blur as she darted to one side, blocking Cayli's path. Their bodies collided with a hard thud. Selia stood grinning, hands on her hips, sturdy as a rock, where as the impact could have easily knocked the poor human girl to the ground. "Where are you headed, now? You know, it's not polite to run away screaming when someone kindly offers you a favor."
